MASTIHA (DRINKING) MASTIHA – THE PLANT Scientific name: Pistacia Lentiscus. Description: Evergreen shrub, of the Anacardiaceae family, which can also become a tree up to 3 m tall. Origin: The sandy soils of the Mediterranean, from the Iberian Peninsula and France to Turkey. Famous for its beneficial properties is the Mastic tree that grows on Chios, from which the essential oil "Biologos" is extracted. MASTIHA – THE “ORGANIC” ESSENTIAL OIL Technique: It is extracted from the leaves and branches of the plant, by steam distillation. Composition: Contains Monoterpenes: α-pinene, myrcene and sabinene, components that give the oil its therapeutic properties. Smell: Warm, woody.
